Index Gardens

Browsing available indexes, connecting a garden to one, rebalancing it, and disconnecting again.

Connecting a garden to an Index hands the allocation decisions to the strategy. The garden then tracks the Index weights instead of you picking assets by hand.

Browsing available indexes#

  1. Open the Indexes section. The available indexes load.
  2. Each one shows its components, its target asset weights, and information about the gardens connected to it.
  3. Select an index to see its detail.
  4. From there you can decide whether to connect it to a garden.

Connecting a garden to an index#

  1. Open an index garden and select Connect Index.
  2. The available indexes are listed. Select one.
  3. The index components and target weights are displayed.
  4. Review them, then confirm the connection.
  5. Approve the transaction in your wallet.
  6. The application submits it and shows its status until confirmed.
  7. The connected index is shown, along with the garden's allocation and its drift from the targets.

Drift is the gap between what the garden currently holds and what the Index says it should hold. It is what rebalancing closes.

Rebalancing#

  1. Open an index-connected garden. The current allocation, the target allocation, and the current drift are shown.
  2. Select Rebalance.
  3. The application creates a rebalance intent, works out the required asset changes, and generates the swap steps.
  4. A preview is displayed.
  5. Review the swap steps and the expected resulting allocation.
  6. Confirm, then approve the transactions in your wallet.
  7. The application submits the rebalance and shows its status until confirmed.
  8. The garden allocation refreshes and the updated index balance is shown.

If the intent expires. A rebalance intent is only valid for a short window. If it expires or becomes unavailable before execution, the application shows an error. Create a new intent and the application generates a fresh preview.

Two different rebalancing paths

The flow above is the per-garden path, where you trigger your own rebalance and approve it. The protocol also runs a batched rebalancer that rebalances every garden tracking the same Index together, on a cooldown, without anyone needing to sign. See The Batched Rebalancer for how that works and why an index-connected garden grants it an allowance.

Disconnecting from an index#

  1. Open an index-connected garden and select Disconnect Index.
  2. A confirmation message explains the consequences.
  3. Review them and confirm.
  4. Approve the transaction in your wallet.
  5. The application submits it and shows its status until confirmed.
  6. The index connection is removed and the garden details refresh.

Once disconnected the garden stops tracking the Index and stops rebalancing, and the actions that were restricted while connected, such as withdrawing, become available again.
